Tim Merlier has won the Brussels Cycling Classic for the second time. The European champion finished convincingly in the sprint after 205 km. He made it ahead of Alexis Renard and Arnaud De Lie on the Houba de Strooperlaan.

Australian ace sprinter Robbie McEwen won Paris-Brussels, the then Brussels Cycling Classic, no less than five times. McEwen took part in the race for the first time in 1997. On his second appearance, in 2002, he won the race. The Lotto – Adecco rider defeated Olaf Pollack in a bunch sprint. The next four times he raced the Brussels Cycling Classic were the years from 2005 to 2008. McEwen managed to win all four of those editions. He defeated Stefan van Dijk, Tom Boonen, Jeremy Hunt and Gert Steegmans respectively.
